So YouWriteOn.com is a rather splendid website, supported by the Arts Council, which has helped several writers launch their careers and has no doubt given many others the confidence to persevere with their fledgling works.

I posted the first 7,000 words of Ticked Off on the site in August 2011 and was really encouraged by the positive comments, and the criticism was always constructive. A buffed and tweaked version of the opening section made it into the site’s top 20, although I’ve not reviewed anyone else’s work for a while and it’s slipped down the rankings.
